Bic Ballpoint Girl Portrait No.1

So here it is, my very first Bic ballpoint pen portrait! It was quite challenging at first to go from my previous technique of choice, pencils, to ballpoint pens.

The girl in this portrait is a very good friend of mine, Telva Mejía Tefel, who has kindly collaborated with me as a model for many recent pieces. She actually is a graphic designer as myself, and have wondered why she didn't become a model.

I have to thank Spanish master artist Juan Francisco Casas for the inspiration of discovering what is possible with one simple blue pen. I had been wondering for years if I should try it out, and have to say that I love this medium. I think I'll be including pen works from now on along with the other pencil works I've done so far.
